Front Page 98® Website Hosting

With Microsoft®'s Front Page 98, you can maintain an exact copy of your Web site on your own PC. You or your webmaster can make changes at any time, then copy them up to our Web server. Very similar to a word processor, Front Page makes it very easy for you to create state-of the art web pages without learning low-level HTML. or other arcane Web programming techniques. We work with you to create the initial Web site, then help you install a copy to your PC. We assist you when you want to copy any changes to our server. ShofCorp sets up your website as a "Domain Name account" (such as www.yourcompany.com). To set up this type of account, your proposed Domain Name(s) must be registered with InterNIC, the Internet managing agency. InterNIC initially charges you $100 for rights to your Domain Name for the first 2 years, then $50 annually, unless you have already registered your Domain Name with InterNIC. Our monthly base rate for a Domain Name account is $35/mo.

What You Get

ShofCorp stands apart from the crowd in two areas: Support and your connection. As our customers can tell you (such as Shop Orange County and Synergy 2000), we get their pages functioning as required and assist them to further take advantage of what the Web has to offer. We're committed to evolve our support to include ActiveX control and Java Script capabilities in the new Front Page 97, for example. But it doesn't do you much good if your site is on a stressed out server or an overloaded T-1. ShofCorp's servers access redundant T-3 circuits at up to 10 MB per second (a T-1 is only 1.54 MBps.) Each server is equipped with RAID-5 SCSI disk sets for optimized read response and backup power supplies. We are committed to limiting our average load to 50% of capacity to minimize peak load sag, maintaining high throughput for our customers.

This is the basic setup, and includes a main page, 3 product/service description pages, and user feedback/information forms. We can arrange to have these forms automatically e-mail any responses to your e-mail address, which can include America Online, etc. The basic setup also includes scanning of one logo art, or inclusion of any pre-existing graphics files in .gif or .jpeg format. Although we can scan art, we recommend you work with a graphics professional if you require extensive customized graphics.

Transfer/bandwidth is the amount of data that is actually moved across the wire when users browse your page. For example, this page is about 4500 characters of information, each character equals one byte of data. So this page equals about 4500 bytes, or 4.5 Killobytes. One Megabyte would mean that you loaded this page into your browser more than 222,200 times. You get 400 MB included in the $35/mo base price, then after that the 26 cents per megabyte of transfer would kick in.

Disk space is a little more expensive than transfer bandwidth. You get 5 Megabytes included in the base charge, which is a lot of pages. The 87¢ per megabyte over 5 MB has to cover ongoing equipment upgrades, such as increased RAM, additional drives, faster CPUs, etc.

Database Connectivity

If you have a large product listing, you may be interested in creating a database of information for users to search, for example, an on-line catalog. For an example of this, check the Shop OC Search page. This page connects to a Microsoft Access™ database containing Business names, descriptions and categories. Secure transactions

If required, we can create a secure form for user orders in a secured directory. Users would have to be using a browser that supported the "https" secure protocol (For example, Netscape Navigator or Microsoft Internet Explorer). Again, any of these transactions can be e-mailed to you for processing. We can also work with your credit card processing software so that the e-mailed transactions from our Web server can be directly imported without having to be re-keyed in by your staff.
